Almost There!

Thank you 4C for such a strong finish to the term. I am very proud of how the children have committed themselves to all the end of term tasks, including the range of tests we have had. I will be finishing up for the term this Thursday,  as I am travelling to Sydney with Claire for a train on camp for the National Touch Football Titles later in October. Mrs Toohey will be here on Friday to complete the term.

A reminder that all swimming money needs to be paid tomorrow to ensure that those children participating still have a place reserved. If payment does not come in by Friday morning the children will be taken off the list.

Friday is our out of uniform day for the Grocery Gamble where we are asking all students to bring in a non perishable item towards the stall.

Friday is also the day we would like to say thank you to Miss Sargent for all the hard work she has done this term. Please help us out by bringing in a plate of goodies to share.

Have a restful break and enjoy your time together as a family.

Magnetic Monday

How hard working have we been today? We have had our noses to the grindstone and managed to have some fun along the way. We spent a good part of the afternoon learning about magnets, magnetic fields and magnetic poles. We played around with magnets and tested the strength of some. I am sorry to say we didn’t even get to our homework books - Sorry. I promise we will get on top of this tomorrow.

Congratluations to Jack and Rhiannah’s teams who played in Grand Finals on the weekend. We were lucky that the weather fined up.

We had 4 recipients of blue pen licenses today Courtney, Rebecca, Rhiannh and Jaime. Well done girls.

A reminder that all swimming notes were to be returned to school today indicating whether your child is participating or not. You still have some time to make payments towards this. For those who may have misplaced the original note I have placed a link to it here so you can print it off.

Medal Ceremony

On Monday, the children of year 4 concluded their olympics unit with a mini olympics.  They were involved in the following events, Long Jump, Shot Putt, Sprints, Long Distance, Basketball and Soccer shots.

The children were representative of the following nations, China, USA, Great Britain, Germany and Australia.  Today we had a medal ceremony with Australia taking the gold as the champion nation.  There was only 4 points separating the top 3 nations.  The children were presented with medals and a surprise.  They sang the national anthem with great pride.  A good fun event.

What a fantastic day we had today. It began with a beautiful reflection provided by 4M. It was lovely to see our Religion theme shared with the rest of the school. The work they put into their final hymn was amazing. A hard act to live up to.

We didn’t get to those 5 explanations planned for today, but I must admit our mini olympics was very exciting. We will catch up with those people on Wednesday. I will get the headphones tomorrow and we can record these onto audacity.

We will have our medal ceremony tomorrow to celebrate the winners of our mini olympics. It was just so rewarding to see everyone work as a team. Be ready for some surprises tomorrow.

Ready to go

I have had a wonderful couple of days 4C and it has all been full of sport. Claire came home late on Thursday to tell us all that she has been selected into the NSW team to play at Nationals in Tasmania. We also had a very sucessful day at Coffs Harbour on Friday. Congrats to Mitch who has made it through to the Polding Carnival.

Don’t forget your gear for our Mini Olympics tomorrow, some running gear and sandshoes will be OK.

Our explanation presentations begin tomorrow so be ready to go.

Look forward to a great week ahead.

Explanation Presentations

As you know 4C I am at a Curriculum Co-ordinators meeting on Thusday this week and I am travelling to the Diocesan Carnival on Friday. Mrs Toohey has all the work that I have planned for you. The timetable for the Explanation Presentations next week is on this link explanation-presentations , so if you are unsure of when you are presenting, just check.

Keep a tally of all those medals while I am away and keep those articles coming in for the scrapbook. I do believe that we are planning an Olympic spectacular for sometime next week.

Take care and look after each other.

Beijing FUWA

Only three more days until we see the Opening Ceremony of the 29th Olympiad in Beijing - China. We have been gearing up and learning so much about the host country and our own athletes. I am encouraging the children to bring in any information about the Olympics that will be in newspapers or magazines. We are very excited and looking forward to seeing many sports in the coming weeks.

This week we are learning to use protractors in Maths to measure a variety of angles - this is a challenging task and I was very impressed with our first attempts this morning.

We have been operating in our different Literacy groups for two weeks now and the children are rising to the challenges presented to them - Like real champions! We are still seeking any helpers for Guided Reading on Tuesday and Thursday.

Congratulations to Tahlia, Joel, Monica and Mitch who competed at the Zone Athletics Carnival last Friday. I am pleased to say that Mitch has been selected in the Zone team to compete at the Diocesan Carnival later this month. Well done Mitch.
